A direct sales point shared by several local producers, one of the first virtuous examples of the short chain in Italy, it has been open for over ten years. The Covered Farmers’ Market sees around 80 local producers as protagonists who sell certified Tuscan agricultural products according to underwritten specifications (quality marks include dop, igp, docg, doc, igt, organic farming, integrated agriculture …): from vegetables to wine, from fresh milk to cheese, from fresh meat to cured meats, from oil to bread, from fruit to preserves. The majority of farmers in the Valdarno area, and some from nearby valleys are present at the market. Periodically, virtuous producers come to the market bringing specialities from other regions of Italy.
The project is also part of the Slow Food Earth Market and has recently been listed as one of the twenty best markets in Italy for the zero kilometer sales by the Corriere della Sera newspaper.
